shawl and blossoms

Yes, it's finally done!
After months of neglect, the crocheted shawl has made it to the finish line.
As requested, here are the photos.
Pre-fringing, mid-blocking:

I got a heart attack in the midst of fringing because I ran out of yarn. I ended up having to reduce the amount of fringing significantly, but I think it still looks okay.

And side view:

I'm so lucky that the cherry blossoms happen to be in bloom in my backyard. Since the colours match, I think I shall name the shawl 'Sakura'...a double homage, since the pattern is from an old Japanese instruction book that Mum gave me. See pictures here and here.
I'm so happy to have finished Sakura Shawl...this is the biggest piece of handcraft that I've done to date. I think I'll lay off on big projects for awhile. Socks and hats, here I come!

Wow! This is a very impressive project!!! I like it a lot. I'm looking for a nice shawl pattern. I know how to crochet but I can't read patterns . . . this would be an excellent project! I'm very impressed. Nice photography too!
